Moona Saul “She Was Born With Chaos in Her Heart”

The exhibition "She Was Born with Chaos in Her Heart" by Moona Saul delves into the human desire for control and perfectionism. Why do we try to structure our lives like a perfectly layered cake, carefully measuring emotions and experiences with self-help books and step-by-step guides? Saul challenges this need for order, asking what might happen if we embraced chaos instead of resisting it.

Through her works, she reflects on the tension between structure and disorder, the illusion of control, and the emotions that arise when we allow ourselves to let go. The exhibition captures glimpses of sitting within chaos, surrendering perfectionism, and the unexpected peace that can come from uncertainty. Saul invites viewers on a personal journey—one that encourages us to ride life’s unpredictable waves and find meaning in its beautifully imperfect, unmeasured moments.

Born in Sweden, grown up in Viimsi, Estonia, Moona left her home country as soon as she finished the 12th grade, to study Fashion design in Denmark. After that she continued her studies in Amsterdam. This school turned out to be too intense for her, which resulted in deciding to move on from fashion and a continuation of discovering the world of illustration and painting on her own. During the last years of living abroad she taught herself to oil paint and tattoo. She spent in total 10 years living abroad - 2 years in Denmark and 8 in Amsterdam. After she moved back to Estonia in 2021, she taught herself to do tufted textiles and started creating art with that medium as well. Ever since she has been doing all those creative endeavours simultaneously until present day.
