Victoria Olt “I’ve Seen and it Looks Nothing Like This”
Victoria Olt Gallery expanded its reach with the exhibition "I've Seen Love and it Looks Nothing Like This," which opened on August 31 2023 at Solaris Gallery. The exhibition showcased Victoria Olt’s paintings alongside poet David Xam’s poems. Both the artworks and poems explored the complex emotions tied to love and the search for one’s path, particularly drawing from Olt's time living in Spain.
Olt’s ethereal, modern magical realism paintings were paired with Xam’s deeply personal, abstract poems that focus on healing from heartbreak. Olt, who studied fine arts in Seville and worked across Europe, returned to Estonia in 2021, where she opened her gallery. The combination of her visual expressions and Xam’s written word offered a deeply layered exploration of human connection and isolation.
Olt reflected on the theme of the exhibition, noting that her paintings were a means to communicate the complexity of human emotions when words failed. She aimed to see the world and people more deeply, addressing the feeling of isolation in a world meant to foster connection. The exhibition ran until the end of October at Solaris Gallery, providing a temporary but meaningful extension of Victoria Olt Gallery's artistic vision.
To commemorate this collaboration, Victoria Olt Gallery also published a book containing the paintings and poetry from I’ve Seen Love and It Looks Nothing Like This, which is still available at the gallery.
