Victoria Olt “Starchild”

Victoria Olt Gallery opened its doors on the 24th of February 2022 with Victoria Olt solo-exhibition Starchild.

The Starchild exhibition featured twelve watercolor paintings, each representing a different sign of the zodiac. Every piece was crafted using handmade watercolors meticulously prepared by Victoria Olt herself, showcasing her dedication to the process as well as the outcome. This exhibition was also the debut of the now-iconic Moirai painting, which has since become emblematic of the Victoria Olt Gallery and one of its most recognized works.

"Starchild is a collection of zodiac-themed artwork exploring fate and the mysterious workings of the universe," remarked Victoria Olt, reflecting on her inspiration. She elaborated further:

"I’ve always been fascinated by astrology. While I don’t put stock in the exact predictions of newspaper horoscopes, I do believe that the universe’s state on the day you were born can have an influence on who you become. After all, the very elements that form our bodies come from the stars. So, it isn’t a far stretch to think we can learn something about ourselves—and even fate—by observing the cosmos."

This inaugural exhibition set the tone for the Victoria Olt Gallery, establishing a commitment to meticulous detail and a focus on bold, youthful art that has continued in every endeavor since. Starchild left a lasting impact, and to this day, the entire exhibition remains viewable on our website.

Victoria Olt is a traditional artist whose ethereal paintings fuse classical realism with the dynamic colors of contemporary art. Her work delves into the depths of the human soul, capturing the complex emotions we often try to conceal. Using mixed media, she creates captivating “windows” into inner worlds that feel both timeless and deeply personal. Her art has been exhibited in galleries across the globe and is held in numerous private collections.

Born and raised in Estonia, Victoria later moved to Spain, where she pursued a degree in Fine Arts at the University of Seville. After graduating, she worked as a freelance artist in Madrid and Amsterdam. During the height of the pandemic, she relocated to the secluded island of Nevis, where she completed the Starchild collection. In late 2021, she returned to Estonia to open the Victoria Olt Gallery.

In a 2024 interview with Jerry Mercury for ERR, Victoria shared her motivation behind establishing the gallery:

"There aren’t many galleries out there now that primarily showcase figurative art by younger artists, and I really felt the absence of that. I wanted to be the change I wished to see in the world, so I decided to create a space that highlighted the type of art I felt was underrepresented."
